Serving with the Seasons: Festive Menu Ideas for Your Cafe

We’re sure you’re fed up with hearing people say this by now, but it’s true - Christmas is right around the corner! If you run a local cafe, then now’s the time to be rolling out your festive menu. Don’t worry if you’re feeling a bit behind - adapting your menu as the seasons change is an economical and eco-friendly way of operating your cafe, so you can continue serving your festive menu throughout the winter months.

If you’re looking for some inspiration on what to serve, then we’re here to help. Take a look below at some fabulous festive menu ideas for your cafe.

1 | Brie & Cranberry Toastie

A festive favourite, you can’t go wrong with a brie and cranberry toastie. You can adapt this in different ways to suit your cafe, for example you may choose to opt for toasted ciabatta or a panini, or maybe just two thick slices of traditional farmhouse loaf!

You can then add other fillings that pair well with these flavours if you wish, such as bacon or stuffing, or to keep it vegetarian friendly you can simply leave it as it is.

Be sure to offer these in grab and go packaging, too! That way people can enjoy them as an equally enjoyable sandwich, or take them away to toast at home.

2 | Mulled Apple Juice

It’s not just festive food you might consider offering, but people also enjoy a warming winter drink! Whilst the traditional drinks of the season might include gingerbread lattes and orange hot chocolates, why not switch it up by offering a mulled apple juice?

A non-alcoholic take on a mulled cider, this comforting drink is perfectly spiced, offering those who don’t drink coffee and/or aren’t in the mood for something as indulgent as hot chocolate a drink to warm their cockles.

3 | Winter Vegetable Soup

For a slightly more filling lunch, there’s nothing like a soup to warm the insides. You might consider a hearty blend of winter vegetables, such as carrots, potatoes, turnips, onions and garlic. Play around with ratios and spices to find your signature blend; to elevate it further, you can serve it with a swirl of cream and some croutons.

You might also want to invest in some takeaway soup containers, as many workers may enjoy some to take away during the busy lunch rush.

4 | Ginger Loaf Cake

It’s not all about the savoury, don’t forget to switch up your sweet offerings, too! For customers simply looking for a light bite, a ginger loaf cake would be perfect. You can keep it simple by leaving it plain, or maybe you could experiment with adding some orange peel inside and some flavoured frosting on top for an extra delight.
